The Milwaukee Rasping Jab Saw is the only jab saw on the market with built-in rasping holes along the side of the blade to rapidly expand holes or smooth rough edges of sheetrock after a cut has been made. Complete with rubber overmold to increase comfort and reduce hand slippage, the new saw also features a thick 6in. plaster/drywall blade for increased durability and life. Very simply, it quickly cuts drywall. I'll be redoing a bathroom wall in the spring, so I tested this on some scrap. Straight cuts went smoothly and jabbing to start a cut also went well. I tried some holes of switch box size and the work was a breeze.
The blade is heavy duty and the point is quite sturdy and has a beveled cutting edge. The blade is six inches long, which is good and bad, depending on how you use it.
The rasping holes make for a wider kerf, but they also make more dust. The "rasp" edge is on the right side of the blade only and the holes will grab the paper, so plan ahead on the direction of your cuts. I'm not going to use this commercially, so the speed gained from them is not a selling feature for me.
The rubberized handle another good feature. It's quite comfortable.
All-in-all, it's a welcome addition to the tool box. It's built well and does what it advertises.
